When NPR Music's Lars Gotrich joins me, you're always in for an adventure. The striking Viking plays songs ranging from the psychedelic Brazilian music of Ricardo Richaid, intense metal music from Azusa and the band Big Blood that asks the musical question, Do You Wanna Have A Skeleton Dream?
I play music from a new band formed by two members of Washington, D.C.'s legendary Fugazi and drummer Amy Farina called Coriky. Dirty Projectors have quirky new music in a song called "Overlord." There's a brilliant box-set coming from another legendary '80s group, African Head Charge, known for their revolutionary take on dub music. We close with Radiohead's Ed O'Brien and his first-ever solo project under the name EOB; he's joined on this album, Earth, by Laura Marling, Wilco's Glenn Kotche, bandmate Jonny Greenwood and Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley.
